Report of SI4DEV COVID-19 Sensitization / Donation of PPE Project in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. Monday 27th April, 2020

As part of effort in containing the spread of the Novel Coronavirus known as COVID-19, in Benin City, Strategy and Innovation for Development Initiative (SI4DEV), embarked on a sensitization project which was carried out at the ever busy Third junction, by Ekiosa Market, Oredo Local Government Area, on Friday 24th April, 2020. The sensitization project took place in two different locations around the Third junction axis.

The sensitization included the display of awareness banner and the sharing of fliers to sensitize the people on COVID19 prevention. There was a also provision of WASH stations in these two locations. Tap buckets and soap was provided for that purpose.
The people that came to use the WASH stations, thanked SI4DEV for her humanitarian gesture. Some of them requested for the provision of food, apart from the WASH stations.

To complement the sensitization, there was also a procurement and donation of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), to Oredo Primary Healthcare Center- of the the centers designated for screening by the Edo State Government.

The PPE donated to Oredo Primary Healthcare Center include: hand gloves, disposable cap, protective glasses, disposable gowns, sanitizers, N95 and ordinary face masks.

The PPE was received by the Deputy Director of Nursing, Mrs. Ebhotemen Florence Eseigboria.

Responding, Mrs. Eseigboria thanked SI4DEV for donating the items, saying, it will go a long way in containing the spread of the virus. She used the medium to call on other NGOs to emulate the kind gestures of SI4DEV, saying the government cannot do it alone.
