We are profoundly grateful for the opportunity given to us by SI4DEV to work as volunteer partners to alleviate the economic hardship wrought on the people by the Covid-19 lock-down in Onitsha Anambra State Nigeria. We were able to provide food items that included Garri, Rice, Yam, Tomatoes, Palm Oil, Salt etc to over 20 hard-hit impoverished homes. The testimonies of the recipients are really emotional, some of them were shocked and could not look on the camera.

We made sure we drove in the message of NCDC being promoted by SI4DEV to their hearts and we were on protective face mask for our safety and to show example. The distribution was successful and hitch-free.

The Onitsha Chapter Intervention was piloted by Mr Chukwu Raphael and co-led by Mr Edward Michael and with assistance from few other well performed volunteers (Miss Ijeoma Ogbuagu and Mr Muoghalu Johnpaul Onyeka) and others.

Before we were assigned the role, we were properly educated  on the safety practices as directed by the NCDC and WHO. We were trained on a minimum of three COVID-19 and other VIRUSES related courses and were certified.

We thank SI4DEV for giving us the opportunity to serve and the knowledge we gathered have made us more conscious and enlightened to face this Corona-virus Pandemic.
