The Ibadan location group participated in the COVID-19 Intervention project launched by SI4DEV across the nation to support health care providers in rural primary health care facilities in curbing the spread of the novel Coronavirus disease.
The Ibadan team led by Adefare Tomisin and Obaado Oluwaseun carried out this project at Moniya Primary Health Center and Moniya General Hospital in Akinyele Local government area Ibadan on Wednesday 6th of May 2020.
The team visited the PHC coordinator for Akinyele local government area to seek permission before proceeding to Moniya Primary Health Center for the donation of the following medical items: a bucket with tap, a medium-sized bowl, a pack of disposable gloves, a pack of disposable nose masks, a pack of head cover, a pack of disposable overall, a 500ml bottle of hand sanitizer and two bottles of 500ml of hand wash soap. We proceeded to Moniya General Hospital to set up a WASH station at the front of the hospital by providing a tap bucket, a medium-sized bowl and a bottle of hand wash soap. We also donated a bottle of hand sanitizer to the office of the PHC coordinator for her support.
The sensitization included the display of an awareness banner showing ways of preventing the spread of the virus at a strategic location in front of the Primary Health Center and distribution of fliers to people at the Health Center, General Hospital and in the Council building of the local government to sensitized them on COVID-19 prevention. Nose masks was also distributed to people that were not on nose masks.
The Matron at the Primary Health Center expressed her gratitude to SI4DEV for the donation. On behalf of the local government, the PHC coordinator also expressed her appreciation,she was delighted that citizens are taking up responsibilities to assist the government. We are grateful to SI4DEV for giving us this out to be able to reach out to our immediate community.
