REPORT TITLE: International World Women’s Day
VENUE: Online.

BACKGROUND:
SI4DEV Abuja location group carried out an online campaign to mark the International Women’s Day.
The International Women’s Day is celebrated on the 8th of March every year, and the month of March is marked as the women’s month. This is to celebrate and recognize women for their role and achievements irrespective of cultural, economic and political status.

OBJECTIVES AND PURPOSE:
The aim and objective is to celebrate women and recognize the important roles they play in making the world a better place. It is also aimed at identifying challenges women go through and mapping out possible solutions.

DESCRIPTION AND SUMMARY OF ACTIVITIES:
It was discussed on the location Whatsapp group that members take pictures of themselves with their two hands open and suspended at equal levels and post them online on the 8th of March with different positive captions celebrating women. Each post was to carry the hashtag #Balanceforbetter which is the theme of this year’s Int’l Women Day.

Members did as instructed and posted on various channels with most concentrating more on Whatsapp status.

BIGGEST ACHIEVEMENT:
It was quite fulfilling celebrating women and all their achievements so far.

OPPORTUNITIES TO PARTNER WITH OTHER LOCAL ORGANIZATIONS:
SI4DEV Abuja location group will be partnering with Discover Initiative on the 20th of March, 2019 for a program to mark the day at Standard Basic School, Karu.

WHAT COULD WE HAVE BEEN DONE BETTER: Nil.

NEXT STEPS: The next step will be to carry out an outreach to mark the World Malaria Day coming up on the 25th of April, 2019.
