Here is her story:

Child sexual abuse is an injustice against humanity and a root to many other social vices. Being a victim of child sexual abuse and having the understanding that Prevention is better than rehabilitation. I started Piece of my heart foundation with the aim to prevent Children from experiencing sexual abuse. At Piece of My Heart Foundation we teach children, parents, stakeholders on the need for sexual education, the need for children to be aware that there is something called sexual abuse. My desire is to build a safe space where young people and children can have access to information and resources that makes them free from abuse and respond to crises. I have reached over 10, 000 people both physically and through the media (radio, T.v and social media). I have impacted over 1000 parent, volunteers and teachers through training and empowerment to make them advocate for child safety.

I lost my parent at the age of 6, I had to live with family members before my mother’s immediate sister adopted me. Living with family members exposed me to sexual abuse. I was able to recover from my trauma and I’m still recovering but I believe no child should experience sexual abuse.

Young people are the key population. Coming together to form a voice will be a strong voice. We don’t need to wait for anyone to take action for us. Young people shouldn’t just see the problems around, we should be changemakers and problem solving. I advice that you start with your community. The world will hear your voice soon.
