Omotayo Bamidele Oluwaseun is a medical laboratory scientist by profession. A passionate volunteer & someone who loves self development. A partner & alumni of SI4DEV, Secretary of Revive Africa Initiative Kano Chapter, as well as pioneering member of Yali Network Kano Hub. A certified professional on soft skills with Jobberman & member of Data Science Nigeria & AI Commons.

Here is his story…

Through a grant sponsorship by SI4DEV in 2019 after a 6 months training program, I partnered with Revive Africa Initiative, Kano to carry out a community project on SDG 4 (Quality Education) in Farawa Community of Kumbotso LGA of Kano State on the 20th of March, 2020. We were able to empower pupils in the community who are orphans & drop outs(60 females & 40 males) back to school by providing School Uniforms, Exercise books, Socks, Pencils & Bags for them. Also, we assisted the school management by providing them with big mats (14 pieces) for the pupils to be sitting on rather than the bare floor. The community leaders & divisional office of the police in the area, as well as Representatives of the state ministry of education were all in attendance. We equally invited few NGO partners & the press from Vanguard Newspaper. It was a great success & everyone appreciated our efforts for the day.

I am passionate on impacting & touching the lives of the less privileged people around me. This made me to use my professional experience & network with other NGOs too, such as Yali Network, Revive Africa Initiative & SI4DEV.

His advice to young people.….

Youth should begin to volunteer themselves in NGOs that are into the various Sdgs thereby making impact in the lives of the less privileged in the rural communities. This will also give them more experiences on community development & engagements while in school & after school.
