SI4DEV Nassarawa Kano Visits M.Y Yusuf Junior Secondary School

REPORT OF (SI4DEV) STRATEGY AND INNOVATION FOR DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVES NASSARAWA, KANO LOCATION VISIT TO M.Y YUSUF JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL BADAWA KANO HELD ON 9TH OCTOBER, 2018 AT THE SCHOOL PREMISES,
The visit to M.Y Yusuf Junior secondary school badawa by SI4DEV Nassarawa Kano location which happens to be her adopted project and first project since the location group was inaugurated in March, 2018.
The mallam and principal joyfully welcomed us.
While we were meeting, the junior secondary schools desk officers from Nassarawa Kano came to visit the school and they are Mallam Saidu M. Ibrahim and Mallam Mohammed M. Garba.

The following were the purpose of the visit:

• To know how the school is doing since resumption of first term in September, 2018.
  To know how many students the school has
  To know how many volunteer teachers the school has
  To know the name of the subjects the school is offering now
  To hear from the mallam other needs and challenges of the school

The following were the response of the principal and mallam

• The school has over 20 students
  They are offering 16 subjects including maths and English
  The school has 7 volunteer teachers
  The school has 7 classrooms, only 3 of the classes have chairs, 3 don’t have chairs and the other 2 are incomplete with a toilet.

The following are the needs of the school which we asked the mallam and the principal to put them into writing, typed and signed and we will come and collect it for proposal writing.

• Estimate of the following should be made which are needs of the school:
  Completion of the other 2 classes and toilet building
  Total number of desk needed
  Writing materials
  Clean drinkable water
  First aid box
  Fans
  Generator
  Computer system
  7 volunteers allowances. Since the school is yet to start collecting school fees and also it is an almajiri school.

The mallam showed interest to be part of the summit coming up in November, 2018 in Abuja, Nigeria so as to be able to share testimonies of what si4dev has done for him.
The mallam appreciated si4dev for what it has done for him and this children, by giving them the plat form to go to school, which is the best thing to be given to a child and he look forward sharing this great thing and meeting everyone during the summit next month.
