Akaninyene Obot is a Volunteer Project Consultant at Ukana West 2 Community Based Health Initiative.

Here is Obot’s Story.…..

My name is Akaninyene Patrick Obot. I am an Academia in the Department of Agricultural Economic and Extension, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Nigeria. I was before my Academia appointment the Program Manager and currently volunteering as the Project Consultant in CBHI

CBHI with full community participation works in the rural community to ensure that everyone have equitable access to quality and affordable health care services. Since the inception of the CBHI program in the Primary Health Centre, Ikot Ideh there have been an increase in service uptake by the community and it’s environs. In order to ensure that no one is left behind, cbhi have moved into communities to identify the indigent and solicit for funds to ensure that they equally enjoy the benefits. So far we have a record of over 5, 600 persons that have benefitted from the program. I have published articles to promote this community involvement in healthcare delivery

I watched my dad died of ailment because we could not afford the medical bills and the living standard of my people in the community gave rise to my passion to ensure equitable access and affordable healthcare services for all without discrimination

His advice for youth is:

Follow your passion with persistence and do the best you can to raise the living standard in your community than you met when you were born
