REPORT OF DRUG ABUSE TRAINING ORGANIZED BY STRATEGY AND INNOVATION FOR DEVELOPMENT INITIATIVE IN CONJUNCTION WITH NATIONAL DRUG LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY KOGI STATE COMMAND ON 16TH – 17TH AUGUST 2018 AT PIBCID BOARD ROOM, LOKOJA, KOGI STATE.

ATTENDANCE

The training has in attendance the representative of the following organizations

  1. SI4DEV Kogi 8 delegates
  2. Young Africa Leaders Inituiative (YALI) Kogi 1 delegate
  3. World Institute for Peace (WIP) Kogi Chapter                 4 delegates
  4. Activista Nigeria 4 delegates
  5. PIBCID/ActionAid 2 delegates

The location Cordinator/Partners Elias Samuel Unekwu declare the training open unbehalf of the Executive Director Mrs/. Nkem Akinsoto and explain the reason why the training was organized and encourage all the participant to be active in order to achieve something great out of the two days training that this will go a long way to help in the drug abuse sensitization advocacy and also that there need to be train and also be trainer to others, after that he now give way for self introduction.

The training commence officially by the State Command of NDLEA Kogi State Commander Alhaji Muhammed Bello Idris who told the house that he was not the one to take the training but his Deputy, that the reason why he came to the venue of the training is to see the activities and also say hi to the participant but is unfortunately the person sent to take the training was not around as at the time he came in which is 10:30am. in response the location partner plead on the State Commander to take the training for that day since he was around and the plead that the Deputy Commander should continue the next day after much deliberation the commander accepted and the training commence.

The commander take us through the effect of drug abuse on teenagers, what is drug abuse, and addiction, why use of drug, Effect and consequence of drug abuse, Signs and Popping skills.

Question and interactive Session: After long studies the floor was open for questions and interaction where different questions and cases was attended to.

Vote of Thank: Mr Adeika Ayo Abraham unbehalf of the entire participants give the votes of thanks and thanks the State Commander for surprising them to attend the training when he was not expected and as that God will continue to give him more wisdom.

The training comes to an end at 12:30pm.

DAY 2

The training continue the next day on 17th July, 2018 with the introduction of every one available and organization represented there after the instructor was introduced by the location coordinator.

The facilitator for day 2 is Alhaji Mustapha Tajudeen, Deputy Commander, NDLEA Kogi State Command, who take us through series of Drug Law (drug abuse and trafficking is as old as man and it come across board in it started in 1909 in a International conference in China the outcome led to International Opium (Molphine) convention of 1912, the first law in Nigeria is dangerous drug covenant of 1945) and other relate Issues that we need to know about drug. Thereafter the class was turn into interactive session and questions/Answers from different participant and organization represented.

The training came to an end by the location partners appreciating the facilitators, participant and organization represented unbehalf of the Executive Director of SI4DEV (Mrs. Nkem Akinsoto) and declared the training close at 2:30pm with a group photograph.
