SI4DEV ILORIN KWARA STATE CHAPTER HELD FIRST FACE TO FACE MEETING

MINUTES OF FIRST MEETING OF SI4DEV INITIATIVE, KWARA STATE BRANCH, WHICH WAS HELD ON THE 14TH OF APRIL 2018, AT WATER VIEW RELAXATION CENTRE, GRA, ILORIN, KWARA STATE, NIGERIA.
The meeting commenced at 16:00 prompt. Mr Blessing Lawal presided the meeting and directed to follow the meeting schedule placed on the group platform.
1 – Opening Prayer
Mr Sulyman, Sodeeq Abdulakeem prayed to opened the door for the meeting.
2 – Introduction of Principal Officers
A. The first person to introduced himself was Lawal Abiola Babatunde. He is the Protocol Officer; Married; Freelance Worker and he is a native of Osun state.
B. The second person was Mr Blessing Lawal. He is the Group Leader; Married, Self-employed and a native of Ondo.
C. The third person was Mr Sulyman, Sodeeq Abdulakeem. He is a student; Single and a native of Oyo state.
D. The fourth person was Mr Jegede Oluwakayode A. He is married; Self-employed, and a native of Osun state.
E. The fifth person was Mr Mesayite Damilare Segun. He is Single; Self-employed, and a native of Kwara state.
3 – Welcome Address By the Group Leader (Mr Blessing Lawal).
The Group Leader welcomed other members and he highlighted the core areas of the SI4DEV Initiative, which are: Education, Health, Governance and Enterprise. He also emphasised the need for the Initiative to have vibrant youths that are committed to tackling societal menace/challenges.
Also, he reflected on the founder of the Initiative, in person of Mrs Nkem Akinseto and her husband as the brain behind the Initiative.
Finally, he pointed out two major benefits of the Initiative to participants. These are: Collaboration/Synergy among teeming youths and the Initiative can serve as stepping stone for participants to achieve their respective goals.
4 – Deliberations on SI4DEV Volunteering
We deliberated on Topic, Registration, Venue and Honorarium for the Resource Person.
Firstly, we deliberated on several topics suggested by the group, and in the end, we concluded on: “Roles Of Youth In Electoral Processes.
Registration for the program would be conducted through Google form platform, which Mr Blessing Lawal volunteer himself to coordinate it.
The Venue for the training is yet to be concluded on. Mr Sulyman, Sodeeq Abdulakeem volunteer to communicate with some hall managers within the Ilorin metropolis.
Finally, a sum was stipulated for the Resource Person, whose choice is yet to be chosen. Mr Blessing Lawal and Mr Jegede Oluwakayode A. volunteered to find a commanding personality that would be competent of handling the chosen topic.
5 – The T-shirt that was chosen is the green and white colour with the logo of SI4DEV on the chest.
6 – Deliberations on Global Youth Service Day
The day we concluded on is 21th of April, 2018. The place we are to visit is Orphanage home. The specific orphanage home selected would be communicated as soon as possible.
7 – Area(s) of Business
We deliberated on office for the state secretariat. Mr Blessing Lawal suggested on using Mr Jegede Oluwakayode’s office for a mean time, which the Initiative banner would be placed out there. We concluded on the suggestion of Mr Blessing Lawal.
We made critical observation on the absence of female members, which might affect the Initiative. The entire State members concluded on working on it.
8 – Adjournment
Adjournment was moved by Mr Jegede Oluwakayode A., and it was seconded by Mr Lawal Abiola Babatunde.
The next meeting was concluded to come up on the 18th of April, 2018.
